Kiwifruit
Now recognized as one of the most popular fruits, kiwifruit has long been part of Funasho Shoji's product lineup, well before it gained widespread attention in Japan.
Like bananas and avocados, kiwifruit continues ripening after harvest. However, unlike these fruits, which do not undergo a pronounced color change, firmness is the key indicator of maturity.
Although harvested primarily in the fall, kiwifruit exhibits excellent storage properties when unripe. By linking production regions in the Northern Hemisphere, such as Japan, Korea, and the United States, with those in the Southern Hemisphere, including New Zealand and Chile, a year-round supply is achieved through a global relay system.
At Funasho Shoji, our dedicated Kiwifruit Division works closely with growers to ensure a stable, reliable supply throughout the year.
